The Home of the Floofs

The world at which 'Floofs' reside is called Sakadonis Prime III to explorers. While Floofs don't have a name for their own world, they are unaware of other planets in their own solar system. Sakadonis Prime III is mostly a temperate climate with various lakes, rivers, mountains. There are also desert regions and frozen arctic regions.The trees that cover most of the temperate landscape are cousins of Cherry Blossom trees. These trees provide sustenance to Floofs via their berries which are very nutritious.

What are Floofs

Floofs are a species, made up of several sub species, of small creatures. Usually Mammals. Consisting of Feline, Canine, Dragon, Avian and even Protogen subspecies. Other subspecies have been noted amongst Councils such as Orcats, Angels, Slimes and even types of the phantasmal variety. Adult Floofs can grow as high as 4 inches tall, with their offspring being as small as 1/8th of an inch.

The Food Chain

Contrary to belief, while there are feline and other predatory subspecies of Floof, they are not the apex predators on their world.Their position actually rests just above the middle of their food chain. Below them are the animals on their world that they consume for survival, which can include small rodents and fish.But its not just meat they consume, as the berries from the trees that cover the planet are also a source of nutrients that floofs require.However when they are sick or ill, there are special roots and flowers that Floofs gather that the sick or injured can mix into their normal foods that help promote a stronger immune response to what is making them ill, or to promote healing of their injuries.

On the Other side of the food chain, Floofs do have their predators. Most notably is a bipedal reptilian that Floofs refer to as 'The Dark Ones'. Nocturnal beasts with long arms, ending in 3 long sharp razer talons. Their legs resemble Digitigrade types of legs, allowing them to sprint rapidly to chase down prey.They also have rows of teeth with a bite force enough to crush small branches and sticks. Large eyes allow 'The Dark Ones' to have impeccable vision in low light areas which is handy since they are nocturnal.Their sense of smell is actually not all too impressive, as smell is the weaknesses of these predators.

The Seasons

As Sakadonis Prime III is in a solar system that orbits a star, the planet does come with its own seasons and weathers. The planet orbits its sun at a slower rate of speed than Earth, making each year approximately 500 days long. The planet experiences 4 seasons during the year. Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.Spring is alot like Summer, albeit with cooler temperatures and precipitation in the form of rain.Summers are hotter and drier compared to other seasons.

Fall Season

In the Fall season, which lasts typically 80 days long, Floofs use this time of their year for a variety of tasks to prepare for the long winter season coming. The local councils work together to store building materials in their dens, as well as storing berries from the trees in a chamber inside their main den for later consumption. This chamber isnt heated, and results in much cooler temperatures, akin to refrigeration.Floofs will also gather and consume larger fruit that are related to Pumpkins. They will use these fruits to bulk up their body fat which they will use when they sleep in the winter months.Trees begin to lose their leaves, and floofs use this time to collect these leaves for their bedding, and store it along with the sticks and pieces of wood that they also collect.

Winters are the coldest and harshest of all the seasons on Sakadonis Prime III. Typically lasting roughly 200 Earth Days.The winters are long and brutal, becuase the other planets of the Sakadonis Prime system actually align in such a way that casts a long shadow on Sakadonis Prime III, shielding it from the warmth of the main star. However, this also has its advantages.The night sky above Sakadonis Prime III is always visible, as the only light on the planet comes from the aurora borealis, and the moons that orbit the planet.Temperatures typically range from around -20 Celsius to -30 Celsius daily on the surface during this time of the year.

Baby Floofs

Baby Floofs are the newborn offspring of 2 floofs, typically around 1/8th of an inch in size. They are born with their eyes closed, and dont typically open them until they are roughly 3 months old. During this time, they remain in their burrow as they are vulnerable to both illnesses and predators.

As they grow older, the babies do eventually open their eyes after a few months, and do start to wander around their burrows. When they have had some time walking around, their parents take them outside the burrow and play games with them using sticks with berries. This helps the babies exercise and also starts to teach them how to hunt as they jump and try to pounce the branches and berries.

When the babies have grown enough to join adults on hunting and fishing trips, they often tag along their parents and other members of their council to learn how to really hunt or fish.The adults tend to prefer fishing for the Baby Floofs as the fish is easier to digest for the young floofs.The hunts also provide good opportunities for the young floofs to learn team work and to socialize.
